When The World Ends

There were cats and trees and bridges

Our souls will need stitches

As we climb with fingernails to reach the skies

We’ll promise God that we believed in him

The book told us to commit to him

Our mortgages look silly now

Faith is first in our resumes

The things we’ve done will resonate

Money is paper and it’s worthless now

Neighbors will become our enemies

Blaming each other for our armies

Everyone’s skin turned grey, how?

When the world ends we’ll ask for today

There will only be a yesterday

Eternal Death Valley during the month of May
